Scientific study: The benefits of CBN on insomnia

The study presented in the article explores the efficacy of cannabinol (CBN, found in our sleep oil and sleep capsules) in the treatment of insomnia in 20 participants. The study protocol includes several key steps and various tests to assess CBN's impact on sleep and the individuals' abilities the day after taking it.

Application steps :

1) Selection of participants:

    • 20 people aged between 25 and 65 suffering from chronic insomnia were selected to take part in the study. The insomnia in question was "primary" or "chronic" and therefore diagnosed as such; the people studied did not suffer from insomnia due to stress or anxiety, so as not to disrupt the results of the study, given that CBN also acts on anxiety or stress.

2) CBN administration:

      • Participants received one dose of CBN (30 to 300mg CBN) each evening before bedtime. The exact dose was adjusted according to individual needs to maximize sedative effects while minimizing side effects.

    3) Sleep assessment:

        • A standard, regular sleep-wake rhythm was set up (lights out between 10 and 11 p.m. each evening) for one week. Participants were required to abstain from all substances during the experiment (cannabis, sleeping pills, other cannabinoids or drugs acting on the central nervous system).
Sleep quality was assessed using sleep diaries kept by participants and sleep sensors worn during the night. The main indicators measured included time to sleep, total sleep time, number of nocturnal awakenings and subjective sleep quality.

      4) Capacity tests the following day:

          • Each morning, participants were given tests to assess their cognitive and psychomotor abilities, as well as their mood. These tests (including word pair, finger tapping, driving and drowsiness tests) were designed to measure alertness, memory, reaction time and general energy levels to determine whether CBN had any negative residual effects.

        Feedback :

        • Improved sleep:

          • The majority of participants reported a significant reduction in the time taken to fall asleep. Total sleep time also increased, with fewer nocturnal awakenings.
          • Sleep sensors confirmed an objective improvement in sleep quality.
        • Capabilities the next day:

          • Cognitive and physical tests carried out the following day showed that CBN did not adversely affect participants' alertness or overall performance. In fact, some reported better moods and higher energy levels due to improved sleep quality.
        • Side effects:

          • CBN was well tolerated by all participants, with few minor side effects, such as mild morning drowsiness, quickly dissipating.

        Conclusion:

The results of this study indicate that CBN is a promising option for treating insomnia. Of the 20 people studied, most benefited from a significant improvement in their sleep without any notable negative effects on their abilities the following day. CBN appears to offer a safe and effective alternative to traditional insomnia treatments, warranting further research to confirm these results and fully explore its therapeutic potential.
